Mission Accomplished: A Mother-Daughter Masterclass at Hyrox Copenhagen

There are some finish line moments that just hit differently as a coach. Watching athletes achieve a goal they’ve relentlessly pursued is always rewarding, but seeing Bishop's Stortford based mother and daughter cross the line together at Hyrox Copenhagen as teammates takes it to another level.

This weekend at Hyrox Copenhagen, two absolute machines from the DLPT ranks did exactly that.

Ten weeks ago, we sat down and set a massive challenge: a sub-90-minute Hyrox. Today, they absolutely smashed it, crossing the finish line in an incredible 1 hour and 28 minutes. Here is a look at what went into that 10-week build and how they executed the perfect race.

The 10-Week Blueprint

Hitting a sub-90 Hyrox in the Doubles category requires more than just baseline fitness; it requires strategy. You can’t simply outwork a bad game plan. Over the last two and a half months, our training programme was meticulously built around three core pillars:

  • Building the Engine: Hyrox is a runner's race interrupted by functional workouts. We had to ensure their cardiovascular capacity was vast enough to recover during the 1km runs so they could attack the stations, rather than just survive them.
  • Improving Efficiency: In a Doubles race, transition speed and work-rest ratios are everything. We drilled the transitions to ensure not a single second was wasted when swapping in and out on the ergs, the sleds, and the wall balls.
  • Sharpening Technique: From the optimal angle on the sled push to the most efficient pull on the rower, we refined the mechanics of every single movement to save energy across the hour and a half of racing.

The Ultimate Accountability Partners

You can write the best training programme in the world, but the athletes have to execute it. What makes this duo so special is the attitude they brought to the gym every single week.

Training as a mother-daughter team brings a unique dynamic. They held each other accountable, pushed through the gruelling sessions together, and brought an unwavering level of consistency to their prep. There were no excuses—just pure grit and a shared vision of that finish line in Copenhagen.

A Proud Coach Moment

To go into a massive international event like Hyrox Copenhagen, stick rigidly to the game plan, and beat your target time by two full minutes is a phenomenal achievement.

Massive respect for your consistency, your attitude, and the sheer teamwork you displayed out there on the race floor. You trusted the process, you did the work, and you earned every second of that 1:28 time.

This is what Danny Livings Personal Training is all about.
