DLPT x HYROX Valencia: Personal Bests, Pasta, and Team Power

What a weekend for the Danny Livings Personal Training (DLPT) team! We took on the thrilling atmosphere of HYROX Valencia (held at Feria Valencia, a true test of fitness) and walked away with phenomenal results, stronger bonds, and a few lessons learned.

The HYROX race itself is a punishing yet rewarding blend of 8km of running interspersed with 8 functional workout stations—everything from sled pushes and pulls to wall balls. This is where fitness meets grit, and our team certainly brought the latter.

Results and Personal Milestones

This trip was a huge success on the performance front. We had an incredible showing across the weekend:

  • Five Single Races: The team delivered some outstanding individual efforts, resulting in four new Personal Bests (PBs)!
  • One Doubles Race: We also smashed a PB in the Doubles race, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work.
  • Personal Goals Smashed: For me, this event was a chance to measure up against my goals from the 2014 Madrid race. I’d set out to shave 7 minutes off my time, and that's exactly what I hit—taking my time from 1 hour 22 minutes down to an impressive 1 hour 15 minutes.

Community and Team Building

While the PBs are great, the true highlight of the weekend was the team dynamic. This event proved once again that clients quickly become great friends within the DLPT community.

The entire trip was brilliant for team building, both during the intense competition and afterwards. We spent the weekend supporting each other through every burpee broad jump and wall ball, creating a high-energy atmosphere that pushed everyone to their limit.

Lessons and (Delicious) Carb Loading

We certainly know how to carb load for success! The recovery and refuelling involved plenty of delicious Italian pasta, which tasted even better after smashing a PB.

One key takeaway for anyone looking to compete at this level: if you're hitting those stations fast, be prepared for the judges to pay close attention to you. Technique matters, especially when every second counts!

Ready to Join the Team?

The DLPT community is built on training like athletes and achieving goals—and events like HYROX are where that hard work pays off. Whether you're aiming for a new PB or just looking for a supportive team to train with, we’re here to help.
